Arrival dates

Exchange students from the southern hemisphere arrive in Sweden between January 15 and 20 each year.

Exchange students from the northern hemisphere come to Sweden between July 28 and August 1.

Orientation Camp

Shortly after the arrival of inbound students, an orientation camp is organized by each district in Sweden.

The program varied from district to district, but they all offer an opportunity for the inbound students to get to know the District Chairperson and their fellow exchange students.

The orientation camp includes an introduction to the Swedish language, culture and customs. The cost for the orientation camp is SEK 2000 and should be paid by exchange students. All extra language trainings during the exchange year are free of charge for the exchange
students in Sweden.

Host families
Like other Rotary districts, inbound students in Sweden are hosted by either Rotarian or non-Rotarian families. All host families are carefully chosen and approved by the local Rotary Club. Our goal is to provide inbound students with two to three host families. Most host families have a son or daughter who lives abroad as a Rotary youth exchange student during the same exchange year.

Insurance
Inbound students to Sweden must carry an adequate insurance which meets the Rotary International’s minimum. In case no such insurance can be found in the home country, it is possible for inbound students to purchase the student insurance here. The cost is SEK 6000 for 12 months. Please note that anyone who arrives in Sweden uninsured must purchase the insurance immediately upon arrival.
