Sweden Rotary Youth Exchange

Sweden Rotary Youth Exchange

The Rotary youth exchange in Sweden was launched in 1964. Since then we have sent approximately 5000 youth exchange students abroad and have hosted as many foreign exchange students in Sweden. In 1981, the Sweden Rotary Youth Exchange Foundation was founded.

The programs of the Sweden Rotary youth exchange are the long-term exchange (one-year exchange program), the short-term exchange (summer exchange program) and summer camps. In the beginning, our exchange partners were limited mainly to USA and Canada. Today our youth exchange programs have expanded to Argentina, Australia, Brazil, India, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa, European countries and so on. Camps take place in all the European countries as well as in Turkey and Israel.

Sweden annually sends/hosts 300 exchange students in total. Each year, roughly 8000 young people participate in the Rotary youth exchange programs world-wide.

Swedish districts are not only multidistrict but also multinational districts. A couple of exchange students from Latvia go to other countries each year.
